On any given weekend, you might find these four players duking it out in an informal tournament. I am sure Don Fournier, Sr was smiling down on the group Saturday as they played their first formal B-Flight ACC Club Championship. Don used to refer to the group as the "rinky dinks". But I assure you that the gamesmanship was always held intact and the serious fun was had by all members of the "rinky dinks". In order to improve at the game of croquet, it is important to play games against fellow rivals in a serious level of competition. I have monitored this group for a few years and I always ask -- who won today? Well, this weekend it was Tom Ross in 1st with Bob Haden a close second. This was Tom's first "formal" tournament this year. Tom and Jan are building a new house in Paradise Valley with a croquet lawn in the back yard. Tom is planning on using an artificial turf carpet for the surface. We do not have experience with this type of surface in Arizona, but are excited to see the grand opening in a few weeks. Congratulations Tom and hopefully with the closing on his new house, we will see Tom in more events this year. Tom is a long standing member of the Arizona Croquet club. We plan on making this event part of the Arizona Club Championships. PTB
