Mission Hills Invitational
1-5 March 2005

After all the rain this winter we all were looking 
forward to a week in the desert to dry out a bit. The 
week before the tournament we were worried as it was 
even raining in Palm Springs but much to our delight 
the sun came out for the tournament and warmed us all 
week. It did rain a little on Saturday morning but it 
was light and, as reflected by Carl Uhlman's win, made 
the Seattle people feel right at home.

The tournament was relaxed, with two singles games and 
one doubles game each day and everyone advancing into 
seeded playoff ladders which began on Friday afternoon. 
Strong competition and a bunch of friendly croquet 
people combined with great food (Monday night Mexican 
Fiesta, Wednesday night carved roast beef or salmon, 
Thursday night at McClatchy's for lamb chops or coq au 
vin and the Saturday awards luncheon in the club) 
resulted again this year in a great tournament. In case 
you haven't already done so you should add this 
tournament to your croquet calendar.
