CROQUET BASICS

The basics of croquet are simple:

Hit a ball and take croquet or score a hoop –    otherwise sitdown.

The object is to completely travel around the court scoring all hoops with both team balls and pegging out against the stake in the middle.

SPECTATING THE SPORT

The sport of croquet is played on well manicured lawns and surrounded with great social atmosphere. A good part of the game, even for its competitors, is spectating.  A really good player is apt to 'run the court' by managing an all around break making all the hoops in one turn.

ADVANCED PLAY

It is common to see one player advance his partner ball through its remaining hoops whilst going along in a single turn to end the game.

SIMILARITIES

The game is similar to billiards, whose origins may be traced to croquet, the strategy of chess and the patience of golf.
