Arizona Croquet Club

US OPEN

Overview:

The US Open croquet tournament is an annual event hosted by the American Croquet Association (ACA).  The ACA was founded by Stan Patmor to provide representation for American players in Association Croquet (before the United States Croquet Association took any interest in Association croquet for  its membership).   Association Croquet is the foundation of international play and its member countries include Ireland, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Spain, Germany, France, Austria, Japan, the United States of America and other developing countries.

The US Open tournament is currently hosted at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, held annually during the first week of December.  Tournament rules follow the Laws of Association Croquet for Advanced rules.  The US Open is  a competitive event with players joining us from around the country for our December beautiful weather.   In most years, there are  between 2 and 3 flights of play.  The Championship Open flight is available to players of all handicaps but limited to the top 24 entrants in the field.  This year's participation was down to 12 entrants in the Open flight and 12 in the AB flight.  We still got lots of play because we played 11 games against everyone in our big block.
